Completing Your Course Profile Page

The Course Profile Page allows you to set up essential details about your course or event in Open CPD. This guide provides instructions for each field, explaining what information to enter and how it will be used. Remember, you can edit the course profile at any time. Deleting a course profile will not affect past certificates; issued certificates will reflect the profile details at the time of issuance.


Course Details

  1. Course or Event Title

    • Description: The full title of your course or event.
    • Usage: Appears on CPD certificates and within the course profile, reflecting the course's main topic or purpose.
  2. Short Name

    • Description: A 20-character version of the course title.
    • Usage: Used in digital badges due to space limitations.
    • Additional Notes: Choose a short name that best represents the course.
  3. Course Badge

    • Description: A visual badge associated with your course.
    • Usage: Choose from the available badge options that match the course. New badge designs are added regularly.

Core Course Structure

    1. Description: Total learning hours or CPD points.

    2. Usage: Reflects the course’s duration and is required for accurate certification.

  2. Aims of the Course

    • Description: High-level goals the course intends to achieve.
    • Usage: Helps clarify the course’s purpose and objectives.
  3. Key Skills Covered

    • Description: Main skills participants will develop.
    • Usage: Defines practical competencies learners can expect to gain.
  4. Key Outcomes

    • Description: Specific, measurable results participants should achieve.
    • Usage: Sets clear learning expectations for participants.

Course Features

  1. Conditions

    • Description: Any prerequisites or other enrolment requirements.
    • Usage: Common conditions may include, “must complete Part 1,” or “must be a licensed practitioner.”
    • Additional Notes: Optional field; many lifelong learning courses may not require prerequisites.
  2. Delivery Type

    • Description: Format in which the course is delivered.
    • Options: Online, In Person, Webinar, Hybrid, Conference, Self-Guided.
    • Usage: Choose the most accurate option:
      • Online: Interactive, group work, or active learning delivered online.
      • Webinar: Passive format with Q&A opportunities.
    • Required Field.
  3. Additional Course Details

    • Description: Additional information relevant to the course.
    • Usage: Use this field for details like trainer names, license numbers, or any other relevant information not covered elsewhere.
    • Optional Field.
  4. Assessed Checkbox

    • Description: Indicator of whether the course includes an assessment.
    • Usage: Tick this box if the course includes a formal assessment component.

Client-Specific Information

  1. Client Name

    • Description: Name of the client for whom the course is specifically delivered.
    • Usage: Optional field, useful for customised course profiles when a course is tailored to a specific client.
  2. Client Logo

    • Description: The client’s logo, if applicable.
    • Usage: Adding the client logo personalises the course profile. This detail will appear on certain templates but will be excluded from others.
    • Additional Notes: When delivering the same course to different clients, easily update by adjusting only the client name and logo.

You are now equipped to complete the Course Profile Page effectively. Remember, courses can be edited anytime, and profiles can be deleted when no longer needed. Certificates will always reflect the course details as they were at the time of issuance.
